Coventry University recently held its annual degree show, showcasing the works of more than 100 graduating students from the school's five different design disciplines: Automotive, Product, Vehicle, Transport and Boat Design. This year's show took place over two floors and two wings of the School of Art and Design's Maurice Foss building, adjacent to the famed Bugatti building, which houses the programs' digitizing and modeling laboratory. And with all the varied design disciplines mixed together, walking around the entire exhibition took rather a lot of time.
Gordon Murray's T25 - still under wraps
Back in March we reported on a new small car concept from Gordon Murray Design – the T25 – which GMD said was a new way forward in small cars. A concept that was to be licensed to manufacturers around the world to build their own version based on the GMD concept and their simplified iStream manufacturing process. And now we have news that Gordon Murray is busy creating the T27, an electric version of the T25 concept which Murray says will be the most efficient electric vehicle on earth.

It’s probably a fair bet – or at least was and has been for some time – that Volkswagen would be in the frame to buy an motoring asset that comes on the market. Especially if that asset is in trouble and an iconic name can be grabbed for a song – or less. Which explains why the names of VW and Giugiaro’s Italdesign are being linked together as the Italian designer appears to seek a car maker to rescue it from the woes of being an independent in these rather troubled times.
